Rotterdam Market Hall 3,000 m2 granite

View all our projects

Rotterdam Market Hall is the Netherlands’ first covered market. In October 2014, Rotterdam Market Hall opened its doors, becoming the most unique covered market for fresh produce in the world. This architectural masterpiece is enhanced by its massive curved walls and ceiling, which feature large, colourful panels. This enormous work of art, titled ‘Horn of Plenty’, consists of copious images of fruits, vegetables, cereals, fish, flowers and insects, covering an area of 11,000 m2. It is the largest work of art in the Netherlands, earning the Rotterdam Market Hall the nickname ‘the Dutch Sistine Chapel’. The front and back of Rotterdam Market Hall are closed off with large glass walls that enhance the interior and keep the weather out. Rotterdam Market Hall is a multi-functional building, featuring a large parking garage in the basement and apartments on the outside. A covered market combined with homes is unique in the world. The floor of Rotterdam Market Hall is made of 3,000 m2 of granite, all of which has been impregnated with and is protected against stains by Seal-Guard®.
